Ohio's capital city is Columbus, located close to the center of the state.

Precipitation is moderate year~round.
More than 50% of the annual rainfall occurs during the growing season, from May to October. Cincinnati had the most average annual precipitation with over 42 in (108 cm) per year.

Severe weather is common.
Ohio is located in both the 'Tornado Alley' and 'The Snowbelt'. Snowstorms occur along the shore of Lake Erie. Cleveland is the windiest city, with winds that average 11 mph (18 km/hr).

There are numerous automobile plants in Ohio that manufacture cars.

Agriculture plays an important role in the state's economy. Ohio is considered part of the Corn Belt. Some of the food items produced are Swiss cheese, eggs, tomatoes, milk, corn, soybean, grapes, hogs, poultry, and apples.

There is a small commercial fishing sector on Lake Erie. The principal catch is yellow perch.
Many seaports are found along the 312 miles (502 km) of Lake Erie coastline.

Tourism is a thriving major industry.
